Beautiful and Broken
These words initially seem to be an oxymoron. Modern society is excessively fad-oriented. The new, the perfect, the shiny prevail in our culture. When anything is broken, it becomes obsolete, outdated, and discarded. But what happens when I am broken? Brokenness comes in many forms; it can be physical, financial, spiritual, emotional, mental, any combination of these, or all at the same time. When my little flame of life falters and flickers, God never extinguishes me. He doesn’t discard me. Instead, He chooses me; He gently blows His love in my soul, to rekindle my life, my hope.
In a world addicted to perfection, may we cultivate a perspective that honors the fragile, treasures the brokenhearted, and sees the beauty of God’s image in every person.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18.
