So much has been written about how science and scripture disagree. As a person who delights in finding common ground (like a Venn diagram), I choose to see where science and scripture are in harmony. I see this space of commonality and treat it like a little patch of fertile soil, and plant my seeds of beauty.

This painting, Day 1, is my first glimpse into this place of agreement. Science tells us that the beginning of the universe started with a loud sound and a brilliant explosion of light. Genesis 1 puts it this way: “God said, Let there be light, and there was light.” I can’t imagine a sound louder that God’s voice calling light into existence! How happy light was, to spin and shine with energy and color. I painted light as colors unfolding in a gentle spiral, a visual echo of God’s delight in His creative process.
