Have Paint, Will Travel
Whenever I travel, I always bring my watercolors with me. There is a special delight I feel when I observe a new geography. I consider the climate, the terrain, even how the air smells, and all this I weave into my plain air painting. Charlie and I recently ministered in Yorktown, VA. Our dear friends took us on a lovely drive down to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. What a magical day! Bright summer sun above, silky smooth sand below, and at eye level the sparkling sea. It is a gift to combine all this beauty, as I splash colors on my palette and on my paper. Of course it is much easier and tidier to take photos with my iPhone, but I treasure my time painting. Art holds time, memory, and wonder.
